  • Fred Marschak has put together videos of the lecture slides to help you prepare for tests.  This is a GREAT resource to help you review material or to make up for material you have missed in class.
  • Your tests are available for review with our department secretary.  See the class syllabus for location and times.  Tests will be available for review for only a few weeks or until the next test is given.  It is a good idea to go over missed problems and to check for scoring errors.

  • Grades have been emailed to your Pipeline account. Your two lowest clicker quizzes have been dropped.  Test scores for Test 2 were curved to help you.  The "most missed" extra credit problems for Test 2 boosted your test scores up to 7% additional.  As for cumulative scores in the class, the high score is 104%.  There are four students with a cumulative score over 100%  Great job!  If you did not receive your grades, email me from your Pipeline account to let me know.

  • CLASS ON THURSDAY 4/17:
    Although I will be out of town, Fred Marschak will cover Ch 6 on properties of stars.  Clicker quiz questions will be given.  Some of this material may be on the next test, though not emphasized.  The emphasis will be on Ch 13, Ch 14, and Ch 5.
  • ASTRONOMY TEST NEXT TUESDAY 4/22:
    Test will cover material on all the planets (Terrestrial Ch 13, and Jovian Ch 14), the Sun (Ch 5), and the physics of light (Ch 5).  Don't miss the test on this date.  Make-up tests must be taken by the next class meeting (for partial credit).  Since we meet again on Thursday, that gives you very little time to make up the test.  Also, I give "hints" during class for select problems.  It's best to be in class to take the test.

    The final will be on Th 5/22 from 8-10 am.  The final will consist of a 50 question test that will focus on the recent material we have been working on (stellar evolution, nucleosynthesis, supernova's, etc), and another 50 question test that will consist of questions drawn from earlier in the semester (size, scale, history of astronomy, the Earth and it's Moon, the rest of the terretrial and jovian planets and moons).  You may use one scantron for both tests (one test on one side and the other test on the back side).
